Patents: These are exclusive rights confered to inventors of new scientific products and processes 2. Industrial design: These are rights offered for new and original outward appearances of products 3. Trademark: These are rights offered for the use of symbols, signs that distinguish one good or services from others 4. Geographical Indications: Geographical indicators are used for products that have a specific origin and possess qualities because of that origin eg Champagne in France 5. Plant Breeders rights: means exclusive rights offered to breeders of new plant varieties. The list mentioned above requires registration for one to enjoy the rights.
